In office Monday – Friday, with potential on-site visits to other GTA offices/stores Join Our Team: Our team manages a massive, high-impact rental fleet (60,000+ tools), central to operational success and driving 50% of Rental’s operating profit. We prioritize a culture of innovation focused on continuous improvement and optimizing processes across our network. You will be critical in overhauling our tool maintenance & repair strategy. You won’t just analyze data: you’ll design and implement solutions to streamline our parts ordering which directly impacts our bottom line. This project offers unprecedented exposure to real-world operational efficiency in a profit-driven environment. Job Summary: During the 16 weeks, the Rental Operations & Process Improvements intern will perform a deep dive into parts inventory and spend for our 60,000+ tool fleet. They will directly impact the efficiency of tool repairs and our financial performance by identifying significant expense reduction opportunities.

Requirements

  • Required Degree: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Finance, Mathematics or Economics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas) is mandatory.
  • Ability to assess and map out business processes (inventory, ordering, vendor fulfillment) and translate operational findings into financial impact (basic understanding of P&L statements, cost analysis, and profit drivers).
  • Proficiency in large-scale data manipulation and data visualization techniques to drive operational efficiencies
  • Ability to synthesize complex data and translate findings into practical, cost-saving business recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to present findings clearly and concisely to senior management and field operations teams.
  • Ability to connect with owners of the current process to gather information and gain buy-in of the proposed new process.
  • Strong ownership mentality, capable of managing a large project end-to-end with minimal supervision.
  • The successful student will be currently enrolled in a Canadian accredited university or college throughout the period of the Internship/Co-op program.
  • In addition, you must be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid study/work permit.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze & Optimize Repair Operations: By analyzing repair trends and parts data, the intern will uncover critical parts ordering efficiencies and opportunities to drive tool maintenance expense, directly reducing operational costs.
  • Create New Standards: Develop and implement standardized parts inventory guidelines, optimizing the necessary balance of parts on hand for immediate repair versus maintenance needs for store technicians nationwide.
  • Enhance Vendor Reliability & Cost Control: Evaluate vendor performance by analyzing outstanding Purchase Orders (POs) and fulfillment times and identify specific vendor cost negotiation opportunities, ensuring a more reliable and cost-effective supply chain for critical maintenance parts.
