About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking a Regulatory Engineering Intern to support our Regulatory Affairs team for the 2026 Summer Internship Program. This role will work alongside in‑house and outside counsel as well as engineering teams on licensing, compliance, policy, and other regulatory matters involving the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and additional regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 0–1 years of relevant experience; demonstrated interest or coursework in: Space systems
  • Wireless communications
  • Spectrum management
  • Orbital mechanics
  • RF engineering
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing technical and regulatory materials.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional legal and engineering teams.
  • Data plotting and analysis tools (e.g., Excel or similar).
  • Standard documentation and organizational tools.
  • Basic engineering computation tools or methods as applicable.
  • Based in the Washington, DC area to attend in‑person meetings with the FCC and other federal agencies (preferred).
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated interest or coursework in wireless communications, spectrum management, RF engineering, or space‑related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform simple and routine tasks such as organizing documents and reviewing technical filings.
  • Gather, maintain, and organize records related to engineering analyses.
  • Perform computations by substituting numerical values into specified formulas.
  • Plot data, generate basic graphs, and support analytical documentation.
  • Assist with preparation, review, and tracking of regulatory filings and submissions.
  • Support engineers and legal counsel with regulatory research and associated tasks as assigned.
