JOB SUMMARY – To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. To provide practical, professional experience for the college student while contributing to the overall goals of their designated department. The intern will assume a primary role in projects working either independently or as part of a team, as well as perform other activities that will support the overall objectives of the area they are assigned to.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a 4 year college level degree in a related field of study (Biomedical Engineer, Computer Science, Electrical Engineer, etc.)
  • Time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient in the following computer software applications: Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance. instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • For all on-the-job injuries or accidents, must notify manager/supervisor immediately.
  • Exposure to standard office environment
  • Ability to regularly sit or stand for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Practical experience in AI, Machine Learning, Python programming, neural networks, and biomedical data science preferred.
  • Exposure to biomedical engineering concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Project Overview: This internship will focus on developing AI models for pattern recognition using AngioDynamics’ available clinical data. The objective is to optimize patient selection in order to improve clinical outcomes by identifying predictive baseline characteristics associated with various outcomes.
  • Gain foundational knowledge in AI, machine learning, neural networks, and Python programming applied to clinical datasets.
  • Perform data preprocessing, feature selection, and exploratory analysis of clinical variables.
  • Develop and validate a preliminary AI-based patient selection model.
  • Develop foundational work toward future clinical decision-support tools.
  • Work on projects that will help develop analytical, audit, research, testing and validation skills.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and reporting forms.
  • Use Excel, Word, Project Management, or Visio to create correspondence, spreadsheets, forms, graphs, flowcharts, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant quality and regulatory/legal requirements.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
