The American Bankers Association (ABA) is seeking interns for a paid opportunity to work with one of the biggest trade associations in Washington, DC. This internship runs from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026, and offers full-time hours at 37.5 hours per week. Interns will have the chance to engage in substantial work across various divisions, connect with leadership, build a professional network, and contribute to significant issues in the banking industry. The pay rate is $25/hour for undergraduate students and $30/hour for graduate students.

  • Collect, organize and analyze financial statement data from nonbank financial institutions (NBFIs), including private credit firms and fintech companies.
  • Track emerging trends in funding, lending, and liquidity positions that may signal shifts in the financial markets.
  • Examine interactions between banks and nonbanks, focusing on credit flows and balance sheet linkages.
  • Prepare research summaries, charts, and briefing materials to support senior team members in policy analysis.
  • Completion of coursework in macroeconomics and microeconomics; additional finance or banking courses are a plus.
  • Strong foundation in financial statement analysis (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., pivot tables, financial ratios, basic modeling).
  • Experience with Python or R for data cleaning, statistical analysis, and visualization.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently under guidance from senior staff.
