About The Position

Hinkle Contracting, LLC, a CRH company, is seeking a qualified, safety-minded, highly motivated individual to work as an intern. The intern will gain an overall understanding of the major divisions of Hinkle Contracting Company, with a focus on Quality Control while also being exposed to all areas of operations. The selected candidate will be involved with and learn about various aspects of Hinkle Contracting Company, eventually being considered for a full-time position.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organization levels
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Excellent communication skills and professional personal presentation
  • Strong organizing, planning, and customer service orientation
  • Great attention to detail and stress tolerance
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the safety goals and processes of the company
  • Receive MSHA and OSHA training and understand regulations
  • Spend time at aggregates, asphalt, and ready-mix plants to learn production fundamentals
  • Understand compliance requirements for operations to meet federal and state regulations
  • Gain an understanding of the QC/QA process and material testing procedures for aggregates and asphalt
  • Learn material specification requirements for products
  • Understand crew and scheduling efficiency to achieve project goals
  • Manage customer issues and accounts receivable
  • Assist with billing and build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Be visible and active in operations with fellow employees
  • Identify and resolve safety, personnel, and equipment/operational problems
  • Perform general laboring duties as required
