Pratt & Whitney AutoAir Plant 5 OEM in Holt, MI (South of Lansing) is seeking a Quality Assurance Intern for 1st Shift. 1st shift hours are generally 7:30PM to 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday. Candidates should possess experience in or desire to learn about Manufacturing, Quality Management Systems, Root Cause Corrective Action, Data Analysis, Technical Review, Inspection Methods, and Project Management.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Engineering or Supply Chain
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ascending/descending stairs.
  • Capable of perceiving the spoken voice clearly.
  • Able to sustain concentration and prolonged commitment to tasks.
  • Comprehensible speech.
  • Competent at communicating through written expression.
  • Hand-Eye coordination.
  • Able to read.
  • Able to work closely with others.
  • Flexible in the work environment while performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.
  • Able to work effectively under stress and pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ambulatory within the various plants.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficiency on the computer with Microsoft Office suite
  • Enrolled and in good academic standing with an accredited institution.
  • Preferred enrollments in the following disciplines: Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics
  • Basic knowledge of drawings and 3D models
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles

Responsibilities

  • Support your shift of operators and inspectors.
  • Partner with safety, operations, engineering, materials, and maintenance teams to meet deliverables and solve problems.
  • Learn the processes, procedures, inspection methods, and requirements to train and educate others.
  • Evaluate technical data and work instructions in support of engineering and operations.
  • Assist Material Review Board and Clinic members with managing projects and inventories. This may include conducting investigations, providing analysis, and developing recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities.
  • Develop proactive quality initiative strategies and drive their implementation.
  • Perform Escape Management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions for internally produced products & processes.
  • Promote the Product Safety and Quality culture in the business, through compliance to the QMS and adherence to Quality Cardinal Rules.
