Position Summary The Intern- Product Development, Molecular Biodistribution will collaborate closely with Biodistribution Core personnel to isolate nucleic acids from mouse tissue samples and carry out PCR/digital PCR using established molecular methodologies. The intern will also help to develop high throughput methods to optimize work for the Core. We are looking for candidates who possess a strong foundation in biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry with a desire to learn and grow. The Intern- Product Development, Molecular Biodistribution is based in Philadelphia and reports to the Senior Scientist, Biodistribution Lead.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
Must be at least a Junior in university at the time of your application
Solid foundational understanding of cell biology, genetics, and molecular biology principles
Required technical experience with pipetting and prior lab experience with basic techniques (PCR, nucleic acid extraction)
Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the (department) team
Excellent problem solving skills
Available to work full-time at the office during the summer months (May-August) at an AskBio office

Responsibilities

Process mouse tissue samples for DNA/RNA extraction.
Conduct high throughput dPCR using project specific primers.
Collaborate with team members to develop and implement high throughput molecular workflows.
Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and communicate effectively with team members to ensure project goals are met.
Learn about different platforms for nucleic acid analysis (nanodrop, Qubit, TapeStation, QIAcuity).
Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Participate in team meetings and provide updates on project progress.
Collaborate with other departments and teams to support cross-functional projects.
Follow best practices for data management and analysis.
Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations to share research findings.
Contribute ideas and suggestions for improving processes and workflows.
Adhere to company standards and regulations.
