About The Position

Under the supervision of the Department Director and/or Manager this hands-on position will be responsible for assisting across multiple City departments, for approximately 29.5 hours per week. The primary goal of this internship is to support the efficient review and processing of planning, zoning, permitting, inspections, and code compliance activities to ensure timely, accurate, and customer-focused community development services.

Requirements

A Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Level student currently enrolled in a college or university with a major related to the role is preferred
Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent oral and written communications skills are all essential to this position.

Responsibilities

Learn and master internal operations, including but not limited to accounting, event planning, finance, human resources, payroll, communications, relationship building, customer service, sales, daily operations, etc
Assist with reviewing planning and zoning applications
Support permit intake, processing, and tracking
Help coordinate inspections and maintain related records
Conduct basic research on zoning codes and land use regulations
Respond to general public inquiries regarding permits and development processes
Assist with code compliance case documentation and follow-up
Prepare reports, correspondence, and presentation materials
Organize and maintain digital and physical project files
Support special projects related to community development initiatives
Identify area for process improvements
Make recommendations to leadership for streamlining systems and processes
Research and implement solutions for enhanced efficiency
Provide general administration assistance and support
Participation in various meetings
Supporting event coordination
Performs other related duties as assigned.
