Intern, Photonics

PsiQuantumPalo Alto, CA

About The Position

PsiQuantum's mission is to build the first useful quantum computers capable of delivering breakthroughs in various foundational industries. Founded in 2016, the company focuses on deploying million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems that harness quantum mechanics to solve problems beyond advanced supercomputers. Their architecture is based on silicon photonics, leveraging advanced semiconductor manufacturing for scalability, as photons are immune to heat and electromagnetic interference and integrate with existing infrastructure. In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-funded projects to build utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. The company also develops algorithms and software, collaborating with Fortune 500 companies to prepare quantum solutions. Quantum computing is seen as a fundamental shift to master challenges unsolvable by other means. The Intern will assist with characterization and analysis of active photonic devices, circuits and systems based on barium titanate (BTO) phase shifters.
