The Pharmacology internship will provide students with comprehensive, hands-on experience in the design, conduct, analysis, and presentation of preclinical data related to cardiac biology. This position will work closely with fellow Pharmacology researchers to execute and manage in vivo and in vitro experiments, including potential evaluation of novel small molecule compounds as potential therapies for cardiometabolic diseases. This collaborative and developmental experience offers exposure to both study design principles and practical study execution. This is an onsite internship. Candidates must be able to work in person at the South San Francisco office.

Requirements

  • At least two to four years at a US college or university at the time of the program.
  • Completed coursework in biology, physiology, pharmacology, or a related life science discipline.
  • Basic laboratory skill experience (e.g., pipetting, preparing physiological buffers) required.
  • Prior animal handling experience is desirable; a willingness to learn to handle rodents is required.
  • Detail oriented and have a proactive attitude in support of research activities and running assays.
  • Highly focused, organized and motivated team player with good time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems with team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data management tools and presentation skills preferred.
  • Prior animal handling experience is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Literature review and study design.
  • Work with fellow pharmacology team members to conduct pre-clinical studies, including biomarker sample analysis.
  • Monitor study progression and summarize the results.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and contribute to data summaries and presentations.
  • Participate in Pharmacology team meetings and collaborative discussions.
  • Deliver a final presentation summarizing findings at the conclusion of the program.
