About The Position

The Intern Pharmacist at Sharp Memorial Hospital is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services that support the mission, values, and philosophy of Pharmacy Services and Sharp HealthCare. This role involves performing technical tasks related to the preparation, documentation, and distribution of patient medications. The position is part-time with variable shifts and requires weekend availability as needed.

• California Intern Pharmacist - CA State Board of Pharmacy - REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services.
• Perform technical tasks involved in the preparation, documentation, and distribution of patient medications.
• Achieve patient and pharmacoeconomic outcomes.
• Identify, resolve, and document prescribing, formulary, and therapeutic issues.
• Review patient medication profiles for appropriateness of drug therapy.
• Communicate with nurses and physicians about therapeutic issues.
• Respond to and document drug information requests.
• Participate in cost savings measures such as IV to PO conversions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and participate in concurrent ADE monitoring program.
• Assist licensed pharmacist in Code Blue emergencies.
• Prepare and label IV admixtures using strict aseptic technique.
• Deliver medications to and accurately place medications in Pyxis MedStations.
• Adhere to all legal and pharmacy procedures.
• Demonstrate commitment to efficient pharmacy operations.
