About The Position

The Summer Intern – Pharma supports scientific activities within the LC ‑ MS business segment, contributing to laboratory experiments, data analysis, workflow development, and scientific content generation. Working closely with Senior Scientists, the intern will gain hands ‑ on experience with LC ‑ MS workflows, small ‑ and large ‑ molecule bioanalysis, This role provides an opportunity to contribute to real projects that support Waters’ product development initiatives, customer ‑ focused workflow design, and scientific excellence across the pharma program.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, chemical sciences, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline.
  • Completion of at least 2 years of undergraduate study is preferred
  • Experience: Basic understanding of analytical chemistry or bioanalytical techniques.
  • Exposure to LC ‑ MS instrumentation or data analysis through coursework or laboratory classes.
  • Interest in pharmaceutical discovery, development workflows, or related research environments.
  • Competencies: Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a scientific team.
  • Curiosity, scientific enthusiasm, and willingness to learn complex analytical concepts.
  • Detail ‑ oriented mindset with good organizational and planning abilities.
  • Basic analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and support multiple activities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing scientific experiments under guidance from senior team members, including sample preparation, LC ‑ MS analysis, and basic data interpretation.
  • Support development of innovative bioanalytical workflows by helping evaluate new methods, technologies, and experimental approaches.
  • Participate in literature reviews on emerging pharma trends, regulatory expectations, and new analytical techniques
  • Contribute to small investigative tasks that help identify scientific gaps or opportunities for workflow improvement.
