About The Position

The internship at NYSERDA offers a unique opportunity for graduate students to engage in the clean energy sector, specifically focusing on offshore wind initiatives. Interns will contribute to the analysis of offshore wind policies, support event management, and assist in stakeholder engagement efforts, all while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic environment dedicated to achieving New York's ambitious climate goals.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in graduate school working towards an advanced degree in environmental science, public policy, or similar.
  • Genuine interest in renewable energy and supporting New York State's Climate Act goals.
  • Ability to coordinate between internal team members and external contractors.
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze regional state offshore wind solicitation requirements and federal requirements.
  • Advise the offshore wind team on opportunities to streamline and standardize processes across the region.
  • Assess offshore wind workforce development policies and funding from other states.
  • Support the management of an offshore wind academic symposium, coordinating with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in public educational events such as Offshore Wind Open Houses and Union Apprenticeship Awareness Days.
  • Support side projects including managing offshorewindtraining.org and stakeholder engagement tracking.
