About The Position

Zayo is seeking a motivated and talented Network Automation Engineer Intern to join our team. This internship provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in network automation and data analysis in the telecommunications industry. Our Network Automation Engineer Intern will work closely with our experienced professionals on innovative projects aimed at optimizing network operations through automation solutions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Basic experience with one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or SQL preferred).
  • Familiarity with databases (relational or non-relational) and basic data analysis concepts.
  • Exposure to APIs or web services is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially with data accuracy.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Interest in networking, automation, or data quality is strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or projects involving data cleaning, transformation, or analysis.
  • Exposure to Linux environments or basic command line usage.
  • Familiarity with network concepts (IP addressing, routing, etc.).
  • Experience working with tools like Git, Docker, or data visualization platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and improving tools that support network inventory accuracy and data quality, including basic UI validation and automation workflows.
  • Use scripting (e.g., Python or JavaScript) to help validate data, reduce manual entry, and improve system integrations.
  • Support data cleanup and normalization efforts, including working with structured and unstructured data sources (e.g., spreadsheets, PDFs).
  • Contribute to enhancing existing tools by identifying inefficiencies and helping streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate with team members across Network Engineering, Operations, and DevOps to understand data needs and support solutions.
  • Assist in developing dashboards, reports, or metrics to track data quality and completeness.
  • Help identify data discrepancies and support root cause analysis efforts.
  • Document processes, tools, and data standards to support long-term maintainability.
  • Learn and apply best practices in network automation, data engineering, and software development.
