The Intern - Naturalist/Program Coordinator position involves developing, promoting, and presenting programs related to natural and cultural resources, as well as environmental education. Responsibilities may include staffing visitor centers, selling publications, developing and presenting both day and evening programs, coordinating special events with volunteers and employed staff, and conducting living history demonstrations. The role requires experience and interest in teaching, public speaking, and working with both children and adults. Housing is available for the intern.

  • Must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours).
  • Must have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program by the start of the internship.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with junior/senior standing.
  • Preference for South Dakota residents.
  • Preference for students of South Dakota institutions.
  • Housing available.
