Job Summary: The Merchandising Business Process Analyst will support strategic projects and tactical activities focused on continuous improvement within the Merchandising department. The intern will be responsible for conducting end-to-end reviews of core merchandising processes and tools, defining optimization opportunities, and documenting existing workflows to create efficiencies. The role requires a candidate with an aptitude for applying technical skills, including an understanding of automation techniques and the potential use of AI, to enhance merchandising execution. The successful intern will work closely with cross-functional partners and leaders to resolve specific business process issues, support the implementation of key strategies, and help define best practices for a best-in-class merchandising operation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative/technical field.
  • Proficiency or strong foundational knowledge in the following areas:
  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Experience with data querying and manipulation tools (e.g., SQL, Python/R) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, visualization).
  • Process Documentation: Familiarity with process mapping and diagramming techniques to document current and future state workflows.
  • Technical Aptitude: Understanding of automation concepts and a demonstrated interest in applying emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to analyze complex process issues, identify root causes, and propose innovative, efficient solutions.
  • Communication & Documentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly document processes, present findings to leaders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to interact professionally and build relationships with associates, leaders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Adaptability & Initiative: Self-motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • The successful student will be currently enrolled in a Canadian accredited university or college throughout the period of the Internship/Co-op program.
  • In addition, you must be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid study/work permit.
