About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern is responsible for learning and assisting in the design and development of power electronics hardware platforms and related components. The Intern engineer works under close supervision and guidance, developing basic technical skills and gaining experience in engineering practices. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports the execution of design tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Supply Chain Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technology degree.
  • Junior credit standing or higher.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and mechanical drawings using PTC Creo (SolidWorks Acceptable).
  • Ability and willingness to perform hands on prototype builds and testing.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in electronics packaging or related product design.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Organized, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update 3D models, detailed part drawings, and assembly drawings using CAD software.
  • Support development of mechanical assemblies, including creating exploded views, BOMs, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Work hands-on building, assembling, and testing prototypes, including integrating mechanical components, verifying fit/function, and collecting test data.
  • Apply a clear understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal, injection molding, additive processes) to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
  • Collaborate with engineers to prepare documentation required for UL compliance, including mechanical drawings, component data, and supporting evidence.
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing mechanical Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assemblies.
  • Communicate progress, technical findings, and issues to the engineering team.
