The Cab Analysis group is a dynamic team of highly competent engineers who specialize in various disciplines. We are responsible for ensuring functional requirements are met for durability & reliability, crash safety, aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, NVH, and materials science for heavy duty trucks developed for North America. Our team, Cab Engineering, is a crucial part of the Vehicle Engineering function within Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America. Cab Engineering North America has the responsibility for delivering Cab Projects, Cab Architecture solutions and Cab Features for the Mack Truck and Volvo Truck brands. We develop new and advanced cab solutions for our future trucks while continually adapting our current products to new and different market and customer demands. Working in an international environment is an exciting challenge which is placing more and higher demands on our employees.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
  • Experience with injection molded plastics design, sheet metal stampings, BIW structure, and vehicle chassis design preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting multiple projects simultaneously within product development and manufacturing.
  • Working in a global cross functional team environment that includes close collaboration on development and testing of materials for heavy truck components.
  • Collaborating with design teams on material solutions for current and the next generation of heavy truck interior and exterior components.
  • Understanding failure mechanisms as they occur in heavy truck applications and the solutions to these failures with the proper material selection to allow components to function at levels required by the specific design of components.
  • Supporting research and development projects that focus on new automotive material innovation based on environmental impact, sustainability, and circularity.
  • Supporting the team when it comes to material specifications, technical regulations, and material testing plans.
  • Working with composite materials as well as automotive grade steel, testing and qualification methods, both mechanical and thermal.
  • Understanding, and utilizing joining techniques for similar and dissimilar materials as an assembly for both mechanical fastening and automotive adhesives.
  • Collaborating with research facilities to drive advanced material development.
