About The Position

TYLin is looking for an intern to join our Chicago office for the Summer of 2026. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern supporting the Water Solutions Team, you'll be able to immerse yourself in diverse projects. You will support HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection assignments and projects in heavy industrial environments, including wastewater treatment, water treatment, and pumping facilities. This internship is your chance to be part of a collaborative community where you can expand your knowledge and sharpen your skills through hands-on, meaningful work.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, AutoCAD, CAD data models, and computational fluid dynamic modeling are a plus
  • Knowledge of applicable HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection codes, as well as energy code knowledge and design impact assessment
  • Familiar with LEED credit applications as they apply to mechanical design, specification organization, and writing

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating mechanical contract drawings and specifications for various water infrastructure projects
  • Assist with the design and specification of control systems to enhance automation and efficiency in water infrastructure
  • Align project budgets with engineering decisions by assisting with cost estimation for mechanical systems
  • Support the diagnosis and resolution of mechanical issues to improve system performance and reliability
