Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and working towards an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics or other industry related degree program.
  • Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations.
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and shop math.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Responsibilities

  • Possess strong problem-solving skills relative to a fast-paced fluid environment.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining company safety and efficiency guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a pleasant and accommodating demeanor over the phone.
  • Respond to stressful situations, co-workers, and customers in a professional manner.
  • Possess good listening skills and address customer complaints or concerns.
  • Learn extensive product line and their different applications.
  • Accurately record delivery & product information into Command Dispatch Systems.
  • Negotiate delivery times with customers.
  • Assist Manager to schedule, dispatch and control an appropriate level of drivers.
  • Navigate various GPS systems and assist drivers in finding jobsites.
  • Determine travel time to jobs and best plant locations to service the job.
  • Direct a fleet of up to 60+ trucks at one time.
  • Coordinate next day's delivery schedule and interpret necessary driver/production employee correlating start times.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Hours of Service rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate with plant supervisors for proper storage and distribution of products.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Warehouse, Purchasing and other departments to optimize processes.
  • Monitor and report on transportation costs.
  • Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods.
  • Ensure shipping documents are properly filed, billed and invoiced.
  • Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders.
  • Report on maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, legal regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes.
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, training and safety records.
