Since its launch in 2007, the Publix Summer Internship Program prepares a cohort of young professionals for a smorgasbord of opportunities in the workplace. This is achieved through relationship building, development of self-confidence, and insight into industry knowledge. The 2026 Summer program dates are May 18th – July 24th at our company facilities in Lakeland, FL. Over these 10 weeks, interns will work 40 hours a week participating in impactful departmental projects that connect classroom learning to real-world corporate experience. The Engineering Project Management Team is responsible for managing capital projects using engineering knowledge and principles to actively manage and implement project strategies to meet manufacturing objectives and goals. We are problem solvers that continuously manage project development and mitigate execution risks by developing solutions and maintaining communication with internal and external project stakeholders and suppliers on project status, resourcing, and opportunities to ensure projects meet objectives and are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Requirements

  • must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May; or if graduating from a bachelor's degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester; or if graduating from a master’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester)
  • must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering or civil engineering and be a current junior or above (rising senior or above as of the program start in Summer 2026) or a graduate student
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • ability to analyze information and be detail oriented
  • ability to work independently and productively
  • ability to think outside the box with regards to problem solving
  • ability to present findings in a concise, high-level manner
  • ability to meet deadlines
  • excellent planning and organizational skills
  • ability to work well with others and be a team player
  • knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermal processing

Responsibilities

  • capital and plant improvement projects
  • formulation of improvement activities
  • facility drawings using AutoCAD
  • strategic planning and the optimal use of capital budgets and assets
