We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Manufacturing Engineering Intern with a background in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any other engineering discipline to join our Manufacturing Strategy and Growth team located in Huntsville Alabama. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your engineering skills in a real-world manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for developing innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in an Engineering discipline and be returning to school upon completion of the assignment.

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Catia or NX) and other engineering tools.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Previous internship or project experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing (3D printing) and other advanced manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize engineering principles from aerospace and mechanical engineering to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support the development of new manufacturing technologies and techniques.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support the implementation of safety and quality standards in the manufacturing environment.
