We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to support Xylem’s inorganic growth through hands-on involvement in M&A integration strategy and process development. This role will focus on helping Xylem build a repeatable, enterprise-wide integration management approach. The intern will work directly with the Segment M&A Leader and collaborate with cross-functional leaders across the company. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to real-world M&A integration beyond financial analysis—focusing instead on operational, cultural, and strategic execution. Integration Process Design & Documentation Develop a standardized M&A integration process that can be adopted across Xylem, including phases, milestones, templates, and decision frameworks. Map and document existing integration workflows used in various segments; identify best practices and gaps. Create user-friendly process guides, toolkits, and training materials for Xylem teams. Cross-Functional Support Partner with HR, Finance, IT, Operations, Legal, Communications, and commercial teams to gather integration requirements and pain points. Assist in designing a centralized Integration Management Office (IMO) support model. Support development of integration governance, roles/responsibilities, and communication plans. M&A Data & Insights Conduct analysis on past integrations to identify patterns, lessons learned, and key drivers of success. Benchmark integration processes against industry standards. Prepare internal presentations summarizing insights for senior leadership. Operational Support Support active integration projects as needed, including meeting coordination, action tracking, synergy discussions, and project documentation. Help prepare leadership updates and dashboards to track integration progress.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Industrial Engineering, HR, Operations Management, Strategy, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about corporate M&A and integration execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or prior experience in M&A, corporate strategy, consulting, project management, or process design.
  • Experience creating process maps, templates, or training materials.
  • Comfort working with senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
