Your New Job Job Summary: As an intern in the Legal Department, you will get hands-on experience working on a variety of legal issues important to our business, which may include review of commercial agreements, involvement in employment law issues, assistance with litigation and/or small claims matters and/or research projects specific to specialized topics impacting the construction industry. While you will work directly for the legal group members, you will also be exposed to the operations and people services side of our business, thus giving you real world experience in what legal practice as in-house counsel entails.

Requirements

  • Exceptional initiative, judgment, and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Punctual and reliable, with the written and verbal communication skills to complete assignments independently, working quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and professional disposition in a fast-paced industry.
  • Team-oriented personality who enjoys working closely with others
  • Solid computer skills and proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer candidate seeking a law degree with one or more years of law school or paralegal certification training

Responsibilities

  • Research and analysis of specific legal issues impacting the company
  • Review, maintenance and updating of the company’s contract management system including recommendations for standard file naming and storage conventions
  • Review and editing of various commercial agreements including customer contracts, subcontractor agreements and non-disclosure agreements
  • Assist with the preparation of applications for contractor, engineering and business licenses in multiple jurisdictions
  • Review and updating of document retention policy applicable to the types of documents created and stored by the Company, taking into account various state law and contractual requirements
