About The Position

The Legal, Risk, and Insurance Intern will support the Legal, Risk, and Insurance team in a variety of regulatory, contract, claims, insurance, and operational matters. This role offers hands-on exposure to RPM’s internal legal, risk and claims, and insurance departments by providing practical experience in contract review, regulatory research, claims management, and insurance processes.

Requirements

  • Current college student
  • Currently enrolled in a Business, or other relevant, college or university degree program, or currently enrolled at an accredited US law school
  • Ability to work in the office five days per week efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment
  • This is an in-office role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 5 days per week
  • The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions.

Responsibilities

  • Research regulatory and legal requirements impacting the company and the rental housing industry.
  • Assist with reviewing and revising management agreements, vendor contracts, and other commercial agreements.
  • Assist with a data mapping initiative in connection with enhancements to the company’s risk management system.
  • Review legacy incident data to identify potential closure opportunities and documentation gaps.
  • Monitor the Risk Management inbox and assist in triaging incidents and responding to operational teams.
  • Attend quarterly claim file reviews with carriers and third-party administrators.
  • Attend on-site loss control inspections to observe risk mitigation practices.
  • Support follow-up efforts for Master Insurance Program (MIP) quote submissions and related underwriting information requests.
  • Assist with reviewing MIP participation data trends and identifying patterns for internal reporting.
  • Shadow legal, risk, and insurance team members and participate in various meetings, including with clients, vendors, and other RPM associates.
  • Assist with daily mail processing and routing.
  • Support tracking and organization of risk and insurance documentation.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
