About The Position

This position is at NY Green Bank, a division of NYSERDA.  NY Green Bank is a state-sponsored specialized fund that invests in New York State’s clean energy markets, with a mission to transform financing markets in ways that accelerate New York’s clean energy transition. Since its launch in 2013, NY Green Bank has committed over $2.6 billion to projects supporting building decarbonization, clean transportation, energy storage, solar, and other sustainable infrastructure. SUMMER 2026 LEGAL INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW NY Green Bank is currently seeking law student applicants for its Summer 2026 Legal Internship. This is a paid, full-time internship open to current law students at an ABA-accredited law school. This internship will begin on or about June 1, 2026 and continue for approximately ten weeks, depending on academic schedules. Interns must be located in New York State or an immediately adjacent state while working. It is expected that interns will follow our telework policy, with a combination of in-office and remote work. Interns work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester, and up to 37.5 hours per week between semesters, when not attending classes.

Requirements

  • Current law student at an ABA-accredited law school
  • Excellent attention to detail, legal research and communications skills
  • Alignment with NY Green Bank’s mission and demonstrated interest in green financing
  • Ability to demonstrate respectful, equitable and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of course work in or prior experience with project finance, project development, secured transactions, corporate restructuring and/or real estate transactions is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the NY Green Bank’s Legal & Regulatory Affairs team on a variety of projects and duties, including:
  • Enhancing legal processes for transaction execution and portfolio management, including reviewing and updating transaction checklists and template documents;
  • Drafting and reviewing loan agreements and other transaction documents for clean energy and renewable infrastructure financing transactions;
  • Performing legal research on transactional and regulatory compliance matters; and 
  • Assisting with NY Freedom of Information Law document production requests.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect, equity and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community.
