About the position

At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. We are currently seeking an Intern for the Interior Components and Systems team. This position requires a lively, enthusiastic individual keen to learn lots and work hard on interior cockpit (Instrument Panel, Center Console, Door Trim), injection molded parts, castings, 3D prints and more on interior components of the vehicle. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination.

Responsibilities

  • Own one or more technical projects related to interior components within Center Console, Instrument Panel or Door Trim
  • Apply data-driven decision making and teamwork to solve complex problems and questions
  • Support other engineers on the team in data collection and analysis, component/system design, project management and logistics, physical part testing and validation, and hands-on prototyping
  • Ask questions, absorb learning, and make the most of this opportunity to grow your skills and knowledge
  • Assist in a range of supporting duties to broaden exposure (BOM, PLM and change management)
  • Help root cause physical issues and design solutions using Catia 3DX

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program at an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, Plastics/Composite Engineering, or related fields
  • Basic understanding of how to make plastic and metal parts: injection molding tools, die castings, materials and resins, sheet metal manufacturing and other fabrication processes
  • A mechanically oriented mindset, thinking about how things work, how they are made, and how they benefit from design
  • Hands-on experience making parts or working with things

Nice-to-haves

  • Design experience creating a product in CAD and for some form of the manufacturing method
  • Coursework experience in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics projects, and/or Injection molding
  • Experience in 3D design (e.g. CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Fusion)
  • DIY design portfolio of scholastic and extracurricular projects
  • Related work experience in a previous engineering internship
