Requirements

  • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship.
  • Graduating August 2026 – May 2028.
  • Proficiency and understanding of Incident Detection and Response.
  • Foundational knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux/UNIX) and system hardening practices.
  • Ability to accurately document incident response actions, findings, and recommendations.
  • Experience with automated software deployment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, packet analyzers, and basic scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Quick learner and adapter.
  • Linux system usage or administration.
  • Scripting and automation (Bash/Python) of systems.
  • Cloud infrastructure knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Support tools for Multifactor Authentication, Endpoint Security, Email Security, Data Loss Prevention.
  • Support internal employees with usage of security tools.
  • Manage security measures to protect the organization’s cloud infrastructure and data.
  • Respond to and mitigate/remediate cybersecurity alerts from Lumen assets.
  • Research and recommend preventative measures in conjunction with managing reactive alerts.
  • Evaluate current capabilities and predict future needs.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, vendors, and peers to anticipate, define, and pursue capabilities.

Benefits

  • Hourly Based Pay Range: Min: $31/hour, Max: $46/hour.
