Support Activities for Transportation

Provide a student pursuing an undergraduate degree or in a graduate program with practical work experience to supplement an academic field of study. Position would normally be a temporary assignment to be utilized during student's vacation period. Work involves a substantial variety of administrative and technical duties with instruction from supervisor.

  • Development of moderately complex mechanical and structural designs for locomotive applications.
  • Read engineering documentation and convert data into 3D designs within the Unigraphics NX software system.
  • Develop engineering records, which includes drawings, charts, graphs and Bill of Materials.
  • Organize workload for defined projects and provide feedback to management.
  • Develop mitigation plans to support Manufacturing needs.
  • Gain training and working knowledge of the NX2 3D CAD system.
  • Gain training and working knowledge of TeamCenter Engineering (CAD Data Management system).
  • Understand the engineering design process and key requirements for drawing development.
  • Exposure to applications across the entire locomotive.
  • Education to Drafting and Engineering processes and standards.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0/4.0 ('B' average).
  • Completed at least 1 year of college courses.
  • Satisfactory completion of classes related to on-the-job assignments.
  • College courses utilizing 3D CAD software.
