Intern will provide general safety support to the Hydro Operation and Maintenance departments. The intern will work in both the office and field environment.

  • Conduct research, document and develop reports
  • Provide assistance to Company safety professionals and conduct ergonomic evaluations, work site inspections, safety meeting presentations, industrial hygiene sampling (e.g. noise, indoor air quality) field inspections, visits, etc.
  • Capacity projects and develop job hazard analysis support, behavioral safety support, safety audits, hazard communication, respirator hazards in the workplace, performance of employee sampling for air containments and VPP objectives
  • May be requested to conduct research on various safety/health related issues
  • Participate in organizational work meetings
  • Lifting of materials up to 35 pounds
  • Travel within the service territory 15% of time
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
  • Demonstrate & maintain a good safety record
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office excel, word, and access database
  • Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
  • Student must have completed Sophomore level or higher by stated date
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must Provide GPA in application materials
  • Must have personal housing availability in work locations
  • Prefer Occupational Safety and Health and/or Industrial Hygiene Degree
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus
  • Pay range: $20.00 - $21.00/hour (first year interns $20.00/hour, returning interns $21.00/hour)
  • Temporary employment (May - August full-time, 40 hours per week; September - December part-time, up to 20 hours per week)
