Hennepin County District Court is pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking practical, professional work experience in a government organization. The selected candidate will be expected to learn innerworkings of divisional processes, placing emphasis on projects and daily tasks that directly support the Court Reporter Unit (CRU) operations and will be working close with the division’s scheduling, training, and technical teams. The CRU is unique in the State of Minnesota in that we are a centralized office that captures the official court record for the Fourth Judicial District Court utilizing both stenographic and digital court reporters. The CRU also processes requests for transcripts and is responsible for managing and maintaining the courtroom audio systems. In addition, the CRU provides training to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity of the record. This position is part of a cohort of internship positions with District Court for the summer, and will participate in professional development trainings, as well as opportunities to learn about the work of the courts and Court Reporter Unit’s role in supporting the court's mission, vision, and values. The position is classified as an Intern, with a working title of Court Reporter Unit Intern. It is a temporary position for the summer of 2025, with an expected start date on or near June 3, 2025, and an anticipated end date of August 29, 2025. Standard business hours for District Court are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, with required hours on Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Candidates interested in part-time positions will also be considered. Scheduled work hours for this position will be finalized between the candidate and supervisor. This position is located at the Hennepin County Government Center, downtown Minneapolis. This position will work primarily onsite, with the occasional option to work remotely, according to business need. A reliable internet connection will be required if working remotely.
