Requirements

  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate college student (12 hours or more) or a full-time graduate college student (9 hours or more) in a 4-year college/university.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Sophomore or Junior level with at least one Power Systems Course preferred.
  • Maintain full-time undergraduate or graduate enrollment throughout the duration of the internship.
  • Classified as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student.
  • Maintain an overall GPA at a minimum of 3.0/4.0 or above.
  • Knowledge of various engineering software packages such as ETAP or similar.
  • Ability to operate personal computers and various software applications such as Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience in a mapping or drafting capacity.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures, computerized record system or database and report generating systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of weekly and monthly reports and spreadsheets.
  • Assists engineers in equipment outage information.
  • Assists engineers in verifying distribution system equipment locations and status through field visits.
  • Researches outage data related to customer concerns and prepares responses to customers explaining causes of the outages and company efforts to address these problems.
  • Assists in data collection and record keeping for the pole inspection program.
  • Assists the engineers in data entry for the various system study programs.
  • Assists the engineers in data collection and entry for the various maintenance programs.
  • Assists engineers in maintaining, updating, and revising the capacitor bank database.
  • Assists in maintaining, updating and revising the distribution switch numbering book.
  • Assists engineers in compiling and analyzing data for the preparation of fuse coordination studies.

Benefits

  • Starting salary: $18.00/hr. - $20.00/hr.
