The internship will be in Silver Spring, MD with a duration of six months. There is a possibility for full-time intern work during the summer and breaks. Once interns have demonstrated the capability for independent work and sufficient familiarity with specific tools and topics, some remote work may be considered. This role will be fully integrated into the technical side of the team in the role of 'Student Mission Application Developers'. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute individually and in small-team contexts. Work will be focused on the development, integration, and deployment of software for processing, distribution, visualization, and monitoring of observations collected from the GOES-R series of geostationary remote sensing satellites, via the National Mesonet Program, as well as other operational environmental remote sensing platforms. This internship will be part time up to 20 hours a week for local currently enrolled students. The primary onsite location is the headquarters of the National Weather Service in Silver Spring, Maryland.
