About The Position

Interns at Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines & Horizon Air join teams throughout different departments and work on visible projects that impact our guests and business. Beyond hands-on experience, interns also get the opportunity to network with fellow employees and company leaders through various intern events and programming. Our interns also receive unlimited standby travel benefits during their internship, which means that many weekends are filled with jet setting across our growing network. This internship is for summer 2026. Our internships are full-time for 12 weeks, and we offer two program timelines to align with different academic calendars. This internship will be located in SeaTac, WA. If not already in the internship city, candidates will be required to relocate for the duration of the internship.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an engineering degree program.
  • Able to support flexible work hours, as simulators are utilized for pilot training during standard day shift hours.
  • Working non-standard, overnight shifts will be common.
  • Must be physically able to perform medium or greater level of work on a variety of electronic equipment, lifts and hoists.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Organized, extremely attentive to detail and highly safety conscious.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship.
  • Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in a Bachelors of Aeronautical Engineering degree program.
  • Familiarity with basic computer programming and electronic circuits schematics.
  • FAA Private Pilot Certificate, Dispatcher certificate or basic familiarity with flight operations.
  • Basic understanding of aeronautical engineering principles, aerodynamics, flight mechanics of multi-engine commercial jet aircraft and flight planning.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Flight Simulator Operations Department in various capacities.
  • Conduct Flight Simulator Preflight tests.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities.
  • Perform testing and validation of aircraft, computing or visual systems.
  • Update and develop processes and procedures pertaining to simulator maintenance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repair of flight simulator systems as required.
  • Provide database toolset software coding support utilized in compliance documentation.
