About The Position

The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts serves the citizens of Fulton County by maintaining and providing access to court and public records and by supporting court operations across Superior and Magistrate Courts. The office plays a critical role in the administration of justice and public trust, supporting judges, justice partners, attorneys, and the public through accurate recordkeeping, responsive service, and operational excellence. Guided by the values of People. Purpose. Passion., the Clerk’s Office is committed to professionalism, integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement in service delivery. The Public Affairs Summer Intern provides entry-level research, policy, and administrative support within the Public Affairs Division. This paid internship offers law students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public policy research, governmental affairs, and judicial administration while working within one of the largest and busiest court systems in Georgia. The intern works under the direction of the Director of Governmental Affairs and assists with research, data collection, policy analysis, and administrative projects that support departmental initiatives and strategic priorities. This position is designed for law students who have a strong interest in public policy, government operations, politics, and legal research.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in an accredited law school as a first-year (1L) or second-year (2L) student, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Committed to a minimum of 20-30 hours of in-person/remote work during the duration of the program.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to follow instructions and learn new processes

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research related to public policy, court operations, and governmental initiatives
  • Gathers and analyzes data to support departmental projects and initiatives
  • Assists with drafting policy summaries, reports, and alternative policy proposals
  • Assists with maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and departmental records
  • Supports preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing materials
  • Provides administrative support for departmental initiatives and special projects
  • Assists with marketing, communication, and outreach initiatives as needed
  • Help prepare materials used for public presentations, events, or informational purposes
  • Participates in team meetings and contributes ideas and feedback on ongoing initiatives
  • Gain practical exposure to court operations and public service
  • Learn court procedures, records management practices, and legal terminology
  • Develop professional communication, organization, and workplace skills
  • Observe ethical standards, confidentiality, and professionalism in government
  • Adheres to confidentiality requirements and County policies
  • Maintains professionalism in interactions with staff, attorneys, and the public
  • Follows all workplace rules, safety protocols, and supervisory guidance
