We are looking to bring on an Intern, Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist to join our team during the summer of 2026. This person will assist office engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks. This is temporary, full-time role with an approximate 3-month duration, starting in May/June 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to get some hands-on field experience and be a valuable contributor to our project teams. This role will be based out of either our Honolulu, Oahu, HI or Makawao, Maui, HI offices. In this role, you will assist office engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks, gaining hands-on field and office experience across different facets of consulting. You will be immersed in technically challenging projects, engaging with airport facilities, construction oversight, and environmental data evaluation. Opportunities for professional growth include meaningful exposure to client facilities. At the end of the internship, you will prepare and deliver a summary presentation of your technical projects, obstacles encountered, and highlights from your experience at Haley & Aldrich.

Requirements

  • Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career in pursuit of a baccalaureate degree.
  • Candidate should be enrolled in environmental science, civil/environmental engineering, natural resources, geology, or geoscience educational program (undergraduate or graduate).

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a field support role, working on technically challenging projects.
  • Assist engineers and Project Managers with planning and execution of environmental programs.
  • Assist with evaluation of environmental data.
  • Express a willingness to visit airport facilities and construction sites to assist in the field with our airport tenants and construction inspection groups.
  • Prepare and deliver a presentation at the end of the Summer to include, but not limited to: overall internship experience, technical projects review, favorite project, biggest obstacle, etc.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in all MS Office software
  • Possess a driver’s license (highly preferred).
  • Have ability to work for 3 or more consecutive months on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 weeks preferred).
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.
