Program Duration Our internship program runs approximately 40 hours per week, from June 1st through mid- August. This role is based in Eagan, MN and requires at least 2 days per week on-site. The Impact You Will Have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a BI Analytics Intern for Summer 2026. In this role, you will apply knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and reporting to operations data. You will generate and report data used for day‑to‑day operations and support various teams including Operations, Government Programs, Finance, and Provider Relations. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in BI Analytics while working on real‑world projects that directly impact our business and members.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an educational program for the duration of the internship.
  • Completed at least one year (2 semesters or credits equivalent) by the start of the internship.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field .
  • Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and strong customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to take initiative and learn new concepts and technical skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, including being on‑site at least 2 days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in Modeling/Data Visualization, Financial Analytics, or Marketing Analytics.
  • Experience with Databricks, PowerBI, SSRS, SSMS, SSIS, or SQL queries .
  • Strong interest in Data Analytics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans, analyze data, and report results to a senior analyst to support informed decision‑making.
  • Assist in designing and building strategic, actionable insights using visual analytics tools.
  • Prepare reports and analysis to identify and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Support the development of reporting programs using various reporting and analytic tools, integrating multiple data sources.
  • Collaborate with team members on using data in new and innovative ways.
