Job Summary: IPG interns will hit the ground running in a fast-paced, collaborative environment tackling real time manufacturing challenges. You will work alongside experienced engineers on a process improvement or development project, the results of which will be presented to your team at the end of the summer. At the conclusion of your time with IPG, you will have gained unique knowledge and lifelong connections.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in 3rd year of a relevant engineering degree program with a College or University, preferred disciplines: Electrical Engineering Materials Science / Engineering Photonics / Semiconductor Physics Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio)
  • Must be able to work from the IPG facility located in Oxford, MA
  • Must have reliable transportation to arrive to work on time

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with robotics and some experience with scientific instruments are a plus
  • Familiarity with QC tools, engineering data statistical analysis

Responsibilities

  • Experience semiconductor laser packaging and testing equipment
  • Support engineers in the areas of improving and upgrading automated manufacturing stations, laser test procedures and equipment
  • Analyze performance statistics and provide feedback for manufacturing step optimization
  • Support production engineers in troubleshooting hardware/software issues
  • Qualify manufacturing processes through yield, performance, repeatability studies
