The position involves assisting the Barnhart Engineering team in creating innovative heavy-lift/heavy-transport solutions. The role requires working under the direction of a manager to support Barnhart Engineers in completing assigned tasks and deliverables. Responsibilities include AutoCAD/Inventor modeling, creating equipment layout drawings, performing basic steel design and calculations, and developing initiatives that aid in engineering processes and proposal creation. Regular communication with the manager and team members is essential, along with local field support as needed. The candidate is expected to develop an understanding of all facets of the heavy rigging and transportation industry, including equipment knowledge and familiarity with branch personnel skills.

  • Assist Barnhart Engineering team in creating innovative heavy-lift/heavy-transport solutions.
  • Support Barnhart Engineers in completion of assigned tasks and required deliverables.
  • Perform AutoCAD/Inventor modeling.
  • Create equipment layout drawings.
  • Conduct basic steel design and calculations.
  • Develop initiatives that aid in engineering process and proposal creation.
  • Maintain regular and clear communication with Manager and other Barnhart team members.
  • Provide local field support as needed.

  • Develop understanding of heavy rigging and transportation industry.
  • High School Diploma and pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline from ABET accredited institution.
  • Prefer experience in construction industry.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team.
  • Must work safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and determine corrective actions.
  • Creative thinking skills for continuous improvements.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Ability to confront people when needed and lead by example.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • AutoCAD and solid modeling experience preferred but not required.
