Our Chelmsford office is seeking Intern Engineers looking to help deliver some of the region’s biggest and most complex public transportation projects within Rail & Transit for Summer 2026. This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting the Massachusetts Rail & Transit department on assigned project(s) by performing basic engineering related tasks which may reflect elements of standard post-secondary engineering curriculum. Relocation and housing are NOT provided for these positions. Available Opportunities in: Track Engineering -Assists with rail layout and alignment studies -Support grading and drainage design -Help prepare drawings and calculations for track geometry Communications Systems -Support design of fiber optic networks, radio systems, and data systems -Assist with video surveillance, access control, and passenger information systems -Help prepare CAD drawings, specifications, and cost estimates Signals and Train Control -Aid in developing circuits for switches, signals, and crossings -Support layout of signal blocks and interlockings -Assist with safety documentation and compliance reviews Traction Power -Support design of substations, switchgear, and power distribution systems -Help prepare load flow and short circuit studies -Assist with grounding and lighting designs for facilities Overhead Contact Systems -Contribute to layouts of catenary systems and support structures -Assist with material lists and construction drawings -Support inspections and field surveys of existing OCS installations
