About The Position

The Intern Electrical Estimator will assist the Estimating Department in the following areas: review of project 3D building information models, plans and specifications for the purpose of quantifying project electrical system components; generate quantity take-offs to support the creation of electrical project budgets; and collaborate with Project Superintendents and Project Managers to adjust project cost data to align with current industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Experience in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams), and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with construction software such as Bluebeam and Navisworks.
  • Basic experience in design and construction document reading, design specifications, electrical single lines, and electrical theory.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Basic familiarity with National Electrical Code and CSI specification system for construction.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in Algebra I and Geometry.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or Technology certificate in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Business, Accounting, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Download documents and 3D Building Information Models (BIM).
  • Read and interpret design, construction drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
  • Generate, receive, and distribute requests for information (RFI).
  • Receive and distribute change documents issued by other team members.
  • Compare and quantify changes issued in document addendums.
  • Tally construction elements and summarize quantities in Excel and other estimating software.
  • Create scope letters to be shared with vendors, subcontractors and included as project budget support documentation.
