About The Position

The Electrical Engineering Intern position at General Atomics offers an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in the field of electrical engineering, specifically within the High Voltage Science and Capacitors Team. Interns will engage in engineering support activities, including materials development, data analysis, and scientific reporting, while collaborating with experienced engineers and scientists.

Requirements

  • Active enrollment as an undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
  • Completion of undergraduate degree by the time the internship begins, with plans to continue in a graduate program immediately after the internship.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
  • Basic understanding of capacitors and dielectric materials such as polymers and ceramics.
  • High voltage experience and data processing skills are desired.
  • Ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
  • Ability to follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal professionals.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the day-to-day activities of the assigned functional area under general supervision.
  • Assist engineers and scientists in testing high-voltage, high-energy, pulsed-power capacitors.
  • Conduct electrical engineering analyses and design for systems and circuits, automate and document test cells, and record findings.
  • Communicate results to engineering and program management staff and give technical presentations.
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve problems using engineering knowledge.
  • Develop electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams, and charts.
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and applicable obligations while conducting business for the company.
  • Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay rate of $29.00 - $31.00/hr depending on field of study and college years completed.
