Join us at Landis+Gyr, where we manage energy better! Landis+Gyr is seeking an Edge App Software Development Intern for Summer 2026 to work on-site fulltime hours Monday through Friday at our Alpharetta, GA location. This is a paid internship but we don't provide housing assistance or relocation so will be considering local applicants.   Project Overview/Job Description: Opportunity for aspiring application developer to gain hands-on experience while getting a better understanding of today’s fast-changing energy domain.  As part of this internship, you will be working on applications that run on an embedded constrained system and are built to solve real world problems.  You will be responsible for building applications or elements of Java applications.  You will learn to build, deploy and test these applications while managing the constraints of an embedded environment. Your assignments will include developing applications to run Landis+Gyr Edge Intelligence Platform.   Work alongside agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline teams to develop hardware and software/firmware components as part of L+G Smart Grid solutions.

Requirements

  • Object Oriented Programming Concepts
  • Experience programming in Java
  • Tools: Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, VS Code, IntelliJ, Git, Gitlab.
  • Appropriately applies engineering principles and concepts to area of specialization. Can draw solutions from formal training and experience.
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices
  • Ability to learn to use data effectively to solve problems and support ideas.
  • Ability to Integrate apps and test with real smart metering devices
  • Ability to understand the codebase and deliver assigned improvements.
  • Ability to complete and validate small features with oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, plan and perform engineering duties for part of a major project or for projects of moderate complexity.
  • Create embedded applications using Java for the Edge Intelligence Platform.
  • Respond quickly to changes in requirements.
  • Assist with testing software in a live environment with smart meters.
  • Contribute to component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation.
