About The Position
The Economic Development Intern will work closely with the various divisions of the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) to support the department's goals and initiatives. This internship is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of economic development processes and the specific functions of GOED in South Dakota. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with different divisions, gaining insights into their operations and contributing to various projects and tasks assigned by leadership. Throughout the internship, the intern will be involved in a range of activities, including communicating action items to stakeholders, assisting with Business Retention and Expansion visits, and managing follow-up items. The role will also include document preparation, social media management, and supporting leadership with operational processes to ensure the smooth functioning of daily business activities. Interns will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information and will have the chance to work on special projects that align with the department's objectives. This internship is particularly beneficial for students pursuing studies in business, economics, finance, marketing, political science, or communications, as it provides practical experience in the field of economic development. The position is designed to enhance the intern's educational experience while contributing to the important work of the GOED.
