Our team, Complete Vehicle (CV), is part of Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America, providing state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution to final delivery of complete products and support of the products in the aftermarket. Complete Vehicle translates the soul of the brand to a product message, designs the products and services, delivers all truck and component builds, develops niche products and aftermarket solutions, and verifies and validates the products and services. We are currently looking for a student to work with our Durability and Reliability Testing Team (D&R) as a Test Engineer and Analyst for Summer 2025. You will primarily be working with other experienced test engineers to run tests to verify the durability requirements of future products. This includes measuring vibrations, strains, etc. on our proprietary test track, designing and executing strength and fatigue tests in our hydraulic test lab, as well as involvement with other types of physical testing such as corrosion, environmental testing, material strength, and dynamic shaker tests. This position will also involve some exposure to the virtual testing methods used within the Durability Engineering domain and assist experienced simulation and analysis engineers with post processing work related to these methods.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related program at an accredited school
  • Have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75

Responsibilities

  • Perform test requests with guidance of more experienced engineers
  • Call and attend meetings with test stakeholders regarding assigned test requests
  • Write work planner and set-up data acquisition
  • Report generation and data analysis
  • Assist with test scheduling and status updates
  • Execution of test methods and post-processing techniques
  • Improvement of current test rigs and instrumentation as required
  • Fixture / Rig design (CAD) to support test requests
