About The Position

The Intern, Drafting - CAD position is designed for students currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program, providing hands-on experience in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) under direct supervision. The role focuses on supporting daily drafting projects, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, and offers an opportunity to learn and apply CAD and GIS standards in a professional environment.

Requirements

• Completed a minimum of six months of college-level coursework in a CAD design course or a closely related technical field.
• Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program.
• Previous experience with CAD software is preferred.
• Excellent personal computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Aptitude and willingness to work with new software.
• Experience with ESRI GIS software is preferred.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
• Ability to work independently on a consistent basis is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ESRI GIS software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily project support to Drafting, including CAD data entry, scanning, and filing of documents.
• Read and interpret maps and engineering drawings related to gas and water facilities.
• Process various records and drawings into MicroStation and AutoCAD as needed.
• Assist with the transfer of documents to permanent electronic storage.
• Learn the District's CAD and GIS Standards, requirements, and procedures to improve personal CAD and GIS skills.
• Assist with miscellaneous special projects as needed.
• Understand and comply with all pertinent District policies and procedures.

Benefits

• Starting wage of $21.50 per hour.
• Part-time schedule with a first shift from Monday to Friday.
