The Piping Drafter Intern position at Tallgrass is designed for students pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in piping design and drafting, working closely with experienced professionals to develop piping drawings and layouts while ensuring adherence to industry standards. The role is temporary and will take place in a hybrid work environment at the Lakewood, CO office during the summer of 2025.

  • Assist in creating piping drawings, including isometric views, general arrangements, and details.
  • Learn and utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor) to create and modify piping designs.
  • Understand and apply piping codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
  • Research and analyze piping systems and components.
  • Assist in preparing material requisitions and bill of materials.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in piping design.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field with an expected graduation date of December 2025 through December 2026.
  • Strong understanding of basic engineering principles and drafting techniques.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD or Inventor.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
