About The Position

The SPLC is seeking initiative-taking IT interns who are enthusiastic about cybersecurity! The Southern Poverty Law Center offers internships to exceptional students enrolled in an IT related field who possess effective communication skills, strong work ethic and attention to detail. The Center is a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people. As an internationally recognized nonprofit organization, the Center is dedicated to reducing bigotry and oppression through research and public education, outreach, litigation, and policy advocacy. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Information Technology related field, at least a 2-year student; and
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with employees and vendors to investigate, identify, and resolve cybersecurity related service desk tickets.
  • Translate business requirements and collaborate with stakeholders on solution designs.
  • Create and maintain documentation for IT processes and applications.
  • Provide functional advice and training to employees on IT systems and applications.
  • Analyze emails, files, links, or software for malware or data loss.
  • Conduct vulnerability management scans and apply security patch updates.
  • Monitor activity logs and system alerts for security incidents and perform incident response actions.
