About The Position

This position is part of the Summer Internship Program, which is scheduled to run from, Wednesday, May 27th through Friday, July 31st, potentially extending through mid-August based on the decision of the hiring manager and department. Candidates must be available for the full duration of the program to ensure a consistent and meaningful learning experience. The Cyber Security intern will be responsible for supporting the Information Security Officer in monitoring the bank’s Information Technology systems to identify possible threats to security. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to learn and assist in establishing protocols for neutralizing threats and maintain updated anti-virus software to block threats.

Requirements

  • Minimum preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree.
  • Computer Science or Information Technology Majors preferred.
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 15 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division any “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Identify vulnerabilities in our current network.
  • Monitor network usage to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Perform penetration tests to find any flaws.
  • Collaborate with team members and the IT department to improve security.
  • Assist in documenting any security incidents and assessing their damage.
  • Educate colleagues about security software and best practices for information security.
  • Complete cyber security assessments and providing reports therein.
  • Identify and make suggestions to management on areas that need improvement and paths to achieve it.
  • Assist/Contribute/Inform in IT decisions and overall operations of business.
  • Document resolutions for future reference.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as needed.
