About The Position

The CB&I Corporate Finance Internship Program provides motivated students and recent graduates with hands‑on experience in a professional Finance environment. Candidates will support global Finance teams by assisting with document standardization, data integrity initiatives, and finance activities across projects and business units. Prior industry experience is not required; however, strong academic performance, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and a high attention to detail are essential. Interns will gain exposure to Finance workflows, documents, and the core principles of accounting and finance under the guidance of experienced Finance professionals. This position is an entry level role. The role directly reports to the Senior Director of FP&A, and routinely interacts with the Corporate Finance Team along with Cross-Functional Managers and their respective staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university required
  • Completed sophomore or junior year (or equivalent credits) preferred
  • Pursuing a degree in - Accounting, Finance, Business, or related fields
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Willingness to learn finance and accounting processes, and financial reporting.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work with supervisors in different time zones.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Adaptability and agility to learn and contribute in varying and complex environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to organize information, identify gaps, and recognize inconsistencies Ability to learn new software, templates, and procedures. Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing accounts payable invoices, including scanning and uploading documents into the invoice approval and routing system.
  • Prepare assigned journal entries, including prepaid amortizations, cash postings, benefits, rent, leases, intercompany billing, etc.
  • Support month-end close activities by preparing monthly general ledger reconciliations, with a focus on accounts receivable and other assigned balance sheet accounts; analyze and explain material variances.
  • Prepare and maintain bank account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of cash balances.
  • Reconcile intercompany account balances and support resolution of discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly schedules and supporting documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Support the preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial and management reporting requests as needed.
  • Adhere to deadlines established in the Financial Reporting Calendar and Corporate-specific deadlines.
  • Provide analytical and accounting support on special projects and other finance initiatives as assigned by management.
